"Blossoming in multiple places!" Baker Hughes has won an order for core LNG equipment
Time:2025-12-10    Source:WECHAT    Views:25
Introduction

Baker Hughes announced that it has won several major contracts, including providing liquefaction equipment for the 5th production line of NextDecade's Rio Grande LNG project in Port Brownsville, Texas, as well as obtaining new cooperation in the Blue Dot One ammonia project and Saudi Aramco's drilling business

According to the supplementary contract for Line 5 of the Rio Grande LNG project, Baker Hughes will deliver two Fram-7 gas turbines and six centrifugal compressors. This equipment features high reliability and energy efficiency, and is consistent with the technical solution of the previous production line. It can reduce emissions and add 6 million tons per year (MTPA) of LNG production capacity to the project. Furthermore, Baker Hughes will also deploy the Cordant Asset Health digital solution for production lines 1-3 of this project, achieving condition monitoring, fault diagnosis and offline vibration data analysis of key rotating equipment through cloud visualization functions.

This order for production line 5 represents another breakthrough for Baker Hughes following its acquisition of the contract for Production Line 4 in September 2024. Both orders fall under the framework agreement covering equipment and related services for production lines 4 to 8. Lorenzo Simonelli, Chairman and CEO of Baker Hughes, said that this order demonstrates the customer's trust in the company's mature technology and team execution ability. The company will continue to deepen cooperation with Bechtel and NextDecade to provide efficient and reliable technical solutions for LNG infrastructure. Bhupesh Thakkar, the general manager of Bechtel Energy's LNG business, also expressed his approval of the continuous cooperation between the two sides, stating that Baker Hughes' technical and professional support is crucial for the project expansion.

Furthermore, in the third quarter of 2025, Baker Hughes signed a contract with Technip Energies to supply steam turbine generators and centrifugal compressors for the Blue Point Number One Ammonia Project in Modeste, Louisiana. This project is jointly constructed by CF Industries, Mitsui&Co. and JERA. Once completed, it will become the world's largest low-carbon ammonia plant with an annual production capacity of approximately 1.4 million tons. Baker Hughes' equipment will assist in transporting the captured carbon dioxide through pipelines to geological storage sites. Its self-heating reorganization (ATR) technology can support the blue Dot project in producing blue ammonia. Combined with an integrated carbon capture and storage system, it can capture up to 2.3 million tons of carbon dioxide annually. The project is scheduled to commence in 2026 and start low-carbon ammonia production in 2029.

At the end of October 2025, Saudi Aramco signed a multi-year contract with Baker Hughes to expand its integrated underbalanced coiled tubing drilling (UBCTD) business in Saudi gas fields. The company will increase Baker Hughes' UBCTD fleet from 4 units to 10 units for new well drilling and old well reentry projects. This business, relying on the CoilTrak bottom hole drilling tool combination system and the enhanced reservoir analysis technology supported by GaffneyCline Energy Consulting, can precisely respond to the underground environment in horizontal drilling and old well returnin operations. The project is scheduled to start in 2026.
